Growing up in Thailand, Kanita was surrounded by strong colours, especially in the surroundings of her parents silk factory in Bangkok. Her mother was a successful colourist and it seems that this early influence of colour and fabric has heavily influenced her work. When moving to Britain she found herself at Gray's School of Art and studied textiles. Now living and painting in Aberdeenshire full time in her work one finds a fusion of two heritages; Eastern and Scottish.
