Mary Louise was born in Aberdeenshire in 1980 and has remained in the local area taking inspiration from both the hustle and bustle of the city centre to the more tranquil, rural locations she captures. She has been painting full time since 2004 and paints mostly in acrylic. She describes her subjects as "contemporary spaces for reflection and solace both within urban and countryside settings." Her unique night scenes often focus on an element of mystery or intrigue within the scene - setting the stage for the viewer to play out a story of their very own on the streets they will have walked many times before.
In her work she attempts to recreate the hypnotic and dramatic qualities of light, pattern and form, emphasising elements rich in colour, depth and emotion. Mary's innovative use of colour is instantly recognisable and very much in demand.
The team at the gallery feel Mary Louise's work captures Inverurie in an evocative and mysterious way which will delight their customers. Mark said of the new partnership "the local community know exactly what they like and I am pleased to be exhibiting something truly unique for our discerning customers, right here in Inverurie"
These exclusive pieces have been created especially for gallery i concentrating on two key landmarks in the town of Inverurie, the train station and the view up West High Street from Market Place. The team at gallery i have worked alongside Mary Louise's father, Howard Butterworth, for many years now and they extremely pleased to have been chosen as the gallery of choice for Mary Louise's collection.
